Banks County School System Names Will Foster as New Principal

Will Foster has been appointed as the new Principal of Banks County High School, succeeding Mike Brown upon his retirement. With over a decade of experience in education, Foster has served in various capacities at the school, including special education co-teacher, math teacher, CTAE department faculty member, and assistant principal. He is recognized for his dedication to student development, both academically and through extracurricular activities such as tennis, cross country, and track and field. Superintendent Dr. Ann Hopkins commends Foster's leadership skills and believes his tenure will ensure a seamless transition and continued success for Banks County High School.

Fifth Graders from Banks County Elementary Dive into Government Operations

Fifth-grade students from Banks County Elementary Schools participated in an educational field trip designed to immerse them in local government operations, aligning with Georgia's educational standards for fifth graders. Throughout the trip, students engaged in various activities across several government facilities, including the Banks County Board of Education, Courthouse, Courthouse Annex, and the Sheriff's Administrative Office and Training Facility.

The Fall 2023 edition is packed with stories from our district - our amazing programs, dedicated teachers, vibrant clubs, athletic achievements, musical talents, supportive families, the groundbreaking HERO unit, and the state-of-the-art Michael E. Beasley Center. We also have special alumni and a Leopard Family spotlight feature.

While we have so much to celebrate, we couldn't fit everything into one issue. But don't worry; we are already planning our next release soon! This is just the beginning of sharing the incredible stories that make Banks County Schools unique.

Alex Anderson Named STAR Student, Dr. Jody Boutier Honored as STAR Teacher

Banks County High School and the Banks County Chamber CVB Inc. announced the recipients of the prestigious STAR (Student Teacher Achievement Recognition) awards, with senior Alex Anderson named the STAR Student and Dr. Jody Boutier honored as the STAR Teacher. The STAR program celebrates top-achieving students and influential teachers, requiring nominees to have the highest SAT score on a single test date through November of their senior year and rank in the top 10 percent or top 10 students by GPA.

11 Alive News and GBI Visit Banks County High School

Banks County High School featured its popular Forensic Course in an exclusive with 11 Alive News. Coordinated by Coroner Mark Savage with the GBI, the event delved into forensic science. Dr. Laura Geller, GBI's Medical Examiner, stressed the need to recruit students, especially females. BCHS student Emma Williams shared her aspirations in an interview, praising the impact of the Forensic Course. The event's success credited Mr. Mark Savage, and Banks County High School takes pride in its diverse STEM courses. The GBI actively recruits high school students.
