Banks County Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay on Tuesday, Jan. 14. Buses will operate 2 hours later than the normally scheduled pick-up time.

Banks County Schools will be closed on Friday, January 10, due to the predicted inclement weather. All activities will be cancelled for the day. Please stay safe. In preparation for the inclement weather, we would like to remind our families that Banks County Schools has a food pantry available for any family experiencing food insecurities. If you have an immediate need, please reach out to your child’s school at this time for assistance.

Banks County Head Start/Pre-K is accepting applications for 4-year-old children. Spots are limited. Please contact 706-677-2963 for more information.

The Banks County Board of Education intends to opt out of the statewide adjusted base year ad valorem homestead exemption for the Banks County School District. All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on this matter to be held at the Banks County Board of Education, 1989 Historic Homer Highway, Commerce, Georgia on January 23, 2025 at 7:30 PM. Kimberly Madrid-Ramirez, a senior at Banks County High School, has received a full-ride QuestBridge Scholarship to Emory University, valued at $325,000 over four years.

The Banks County School System recently held its 4th REACH Awards Ceremony, celebrating the 2024-2025 REACH Scholars: Eden Isabella Bless, Delilah Emma Deanna Murray, Oscar Jesus Reyes, and Lexie Grace Roberts. These scholars were recognized for their academic excellence, strong character, and aspirations for higher education. Their achievements are supported by mentorship, coaching, and scholarships through REACH Georgia. The district also expressed gratitude to sponsors MetroSite, Commerce Country Café, UpState Curb, and the Hoyt & Ruth Parson Phi Delta Chapter of the Eastern Star.

The Banks County School System has named Mrs. Angie Austin as the 2024-2025 System Teacher of the Year. The system will recognize each school winner on November 21, 2024 at the Banks County Board of Education.
