Banks County High School Students Lead Digital Citizenship Lessons for Little Leopards

Earlier this semester, Banks County High School students helped to teach their peers at Banks County Primary School about the importance of digital citizenship. These high school leaders volunteered their time and talents to develop engaging lessons focused on password security, screen time management, and online safety.

The lessons were created as part of the Business Communication course at Banks County High School under the direction of teacher Whittney LaHayne.

LaHayne shared, “I’m incredibly proud of my Business Communication students who demonstrated exceptional dedication, creativity, and professionalism during their digital citizenship presentations at the primary school. Their ability to create engaging, age-appropriate lessons showcased their communication skills and their commitment to positively impacting our community. Their hard work has planted seeds of responsible digital behavior that will benefit these young learners for years.”

Digital Learning Coordinator Angie Bowen added, “It was inspiring to watch our older Leopards step into the role of mentors for our younger students. We are fortunate in Banks County to have a unique structure that allows us to use our resources across all grade levels. Opportunities like these, where high school students lead and teach, are powerful. Our Little Leopards truly look up to them, and our high school students created a day that blended learning and fun in the best way.”

High school students who participated in the project included:

Tatiana Bailey, Brayden Cain, Landon Dove, Zander Beck, Paige Newton, Shayna Vickery, Savannah Griffith, and Michelle Wireko.
